Bluff Point

Yesterday I chaperoned a field trip to Bluff Point State Park. Too bad the weather was cold, windy and drizzly :( It was a science research trip so actually it was interesting. My group was in charge of "vegetation" we had to take quadrant measurements of the different types of beach vegetation. Basically there was lots of dune grass, wild beach roses and beach peas. Other groups were in charge of weather observations, animals, and sediment. One of the science teachers released some type of salt compound that was safe but turned green when put in the water - they were able to see it "travel" down the beach due to the wind and currents. The best part was that since there wasn't enough room on the buses I had to drive all the equipment down and my friend Lisa who is a para on that team got to go with me. Darn, hated to miss out on an hour long bus ride with noisy 8th graders - ha ha. On our way home Lisa and I stopped at Dairy Queen for cotton candy blizzards - yum yum :)

Look who is in the house

T.G.I.F.

This is Ligit-she was originally someone's boat decoration at last years "Ya Gotta Regatta" but was left behind at the Pond :( where the beach staff quickly gave her a home upstairs in the beach house. :) After a quiet winter there she has now gone on a short vacation to our house while some minor renovations take place in the beach house. She is really enjoying the activities here but can't wait to get back with the gang at the Pond :)

More Roses

Aren't these roses beautiful? I especially love the white ones with the blue tips. I received these last night as a thank you for some volunteer work and there were more yellow ones in it but I really wanted to use my Waterford bud vase and they all didn't fit in so.....

Can you smell the roses?

I snapped these pictures this morning of our one rose bush. I bought it about 10 years ago at the Christmas Tree Shop for $2.99 mainly because we had just painted the girls' room yellow. We never do a thing to it but occasionally cut it back and it always blooms beautifully!! My neighbor across the street can never get over it because he buys his roses at a local nursery, constantly attends to them, and never has good luck and replaces at least 2 every year!!
